I don't have DID, but here's a bit about it.

Individuals with DID demonstrate a variety of symptoms with wide fluctuations across time; functioning can vary from severe impairment in daily functioning
to normal or high abilities. Symptoms can include:
list of 6 items
• multiple mannerisms, attitudes and beliefs that are dissimilar to each other
• headaches
and other body
pains
• distortion or loss of subjective
time
• depersonalization
• amnesia
• depression
list end
Patients may experience an extremely broad array of other symptoms that resemble
epilepsy,
schizophrenia,
anxiety,
mood disorders,
post traumatic stress,
personality
, and
eating disorders.

I recall running across the term in introductory Psychology last semester, but i think the last post summed it up nicely.

Oh yes, I've definitely heard of DID. It's what used to be called Multiple Personality Disorder. Is there anything specific you wanted to know about it, that post 2 didn't summarize?

Yes post 2 was great. I've heard of it also, although I don't know of anyone who has it. People that go through severe abuse can sometimes have it from what I've heard.

I've heard of MPD before. I don't understand why they had to change the name of it. I don't know anyone with it.

I've heard of MPD too and the minute I read that that's what this is, I understood it more fully. I don't know anyone offline with it but I do have someone on my friends list on LiveJournal who has at least 30 different personalities and a website. You never know who's gonna write in the journal and they seem to have come to terms with themselves.

for those who've never used LJ, if you click on the username (after the info link) it'll bring you to the journal. My only request is that if you add them or comment on anything, please be respectful. Btw, I'm Theophania on lj so feel free to add me etc if you wish.
